Sessions:

Sessions typically last for 1-2 hours. I prefer to use natural light and I offer sessions in either your home (if well-lit) or at a local outdoor location of your choice.

In-home sessions

In-home sessions work best for newborns and babies. They are also appropriate during winter months or for small families. In-home sessions work best during the mid-day and are scheduled around your child's nap time. I often utilize the first half an hour of the session looking for the best available light in your home. I may also ask to move furniture or move decorations that may be distracting in your photos.

I realize that children may need a break to recover from the attention or have a snack. I will spend the amount of time necessary to capture the best possible images.

Newborns:

Newborns photograph the best in their first two weeks of life. During this time they are most likely to sleep well and will maintain that curled up newborn look. Parents should wear a black shirt for the best portraits. In the winter months please raise the temperature in your home, turn on a fireplace, or small heater in order to accomodate your baby in his/her birthday suit.

Please do not use lotion before session to avoid shine.

Outdoor Session:

If you are from the area then you are familiar with the beautiful surroundings. If you are new to the area I can assist you in finding the perfect location for your shoot. Outdoor shoots work best for families and children on the move. Outdoor shoots occur either early in the morning or an hour and a half before sunset. Early morning often works best for families with young children, as they are fresh and happy.

All Sessions:

For all sessions I encourage parents to talk to their children about having their pictures taken. Depending on your child's temperament and diet, I also suggest bringing a treat or special toy.

Clothing:

Solid colors photograph best. I recommend that families not necessarily match; but coordinate with solids, such as jeans or khakis and light or dark tops. Although white is easy, it is less forgiving for cameras. Bold prints and stripes should be avoided in group shots as it may be distracting to the photo. Logos should also be avoided. Babies look perfect in their birthday suits or a simple bloomer or diaper cover. For babies and toddlers in home or at the beach, bare feet look best!

Bright colors, fun hats, tutus, or accessories are fun for young children taking individual pictures! I have some of the above if you are interested.

Remember to remove large watches and cell phones before your session:-)

Ordering:

Two-three weeks after your session you will be notified that your session gallery will be available to view online. Your session will consist of 20-30 proofs. Minor touch-ups are included. Orders are due two weeks after viewing date. Expect orders to arrive within two weeks after orders are placed. Jewelry and handbag delivery times vary.

Pictures may be ordered in either color or Black and White. I display some pictures within your gallery in black and white so that you may view the possibilities.
